My English vocab!

*Theme - central message in other cases, the main idea.
Ex : Richard Cory ; Something can look good on the outside but in the inside it can be different. ( vise versa ) It's not always as it seems.
*Tone - the authors attitude towards the audience or the topic or the characters.
*Mood - the quality of the reader.
*Syllogism - premise 1, premise 2, - conclusion.
*Truth has to be factually verifiable in the world.
*Validity - the quality of being logically or factually sound.
*Diction - the words an author uses to tell a story.
*Syntax - how an author puts the words together
*The medium is the message
the difference between hearing and listening is how we think, it's our brains.
*Verbal - you yourself are talking. Verbally
*Para verbal - how loud we speak, how fast we speak
*Nonverbal - facial expressions and body language

Earth on Turtle's Back / Questions

The language in the text is different to the language that we use now by us using now is some type of slang words and contractions. And when it was first written some words from the language it came from might not exist in the language we now see it written in. 

It is important for a story to be repeated word by word because some words can be passed on differently and the meaning may get switched up.

August 16, 2016 The Earth on Turtle's Back

My thoughts about The Earth on Turtle's Back is that I found it very interesting. Like how a girl fell into a hole and birds caught her. And when I read this, it made me think about Greek myth stories.

Thoughts on Richard Cory

From reading Richard Cory, I have so many thoughts about it. It makes sense to me but at the same time it doesn't. When I read this, my first impression was that it's not all about what you have or what people see about you on the outside. At the end of the day, it's about how you feel in the inside. From what i read I feel like Richard had a lot of things that people wished they had but you could have all the money in the world and still have something holding you down. And I feel like that's what Richard was going through. i think he was going through something that people didn't see and didn't care to ask how he was doing because just from looking at him, looked like he was living a great life but little did they know, Richard Cory was having a hard time.
